• PROTEST: Love of nature

In 1993, at the start of a decade marked by the rise of sports such as snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding, a group of enthusiastic snowboarders from the Netherlands embarked on a new adventure, founding the company PROTEST SPORTSWEAR.

Dubbed “alternative” and “extreme” at the time, these sports experienced exponential growth across the board, and together with the creation of events that attracted large audiences and considerable media coverage, there was a rapid and constant emergence of new athletes, who quickly gained recognition and exposure. Many brands were also quick to sponsor them.

The company’s main objective was to create functional, attractive clothing at a reasonable and accessible price, and a brand with which most fans of these sports could identify — a kind of subculture, mostly consisting of generations called X and Y.

The spirit reflected in the brand’s collections is inspired both by a love for nature and the possibilities that it offers to practice sports, and by music, art and urban culture.
